Canelo Alvarez is regarded as one of the top pound for pound fighters in the world. He is well known for exploiting gaps in his opponents' guards and using his head mobility to avoid blows. Light Heavyweight

Canelo Alvarez, the Mexican boxer superstar, once again pushed the envelope at light heavyweight. This time, he faced the world champion WBA (Super) Dmitry Bivol. The fight took place on February 26 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The first round starts with Canelo landing a right to the head and body. Bivol lands a combination, but cannot escape Alvarez's power and quick hand speed. Bivol is able to land a right and a left to the body, but it is not enough to beat the Mexican. In the third round, Canelo is able to land a flurry of punches. However, in the following rounds were mostly in Bivol's favour, who ended winning by unanimous decision.

Canelo Alvarez has fought at light heavyweight several times, most recently in November 2019 against Sergey Kovalev for the WBO light heavyweight title. He won the bout by KO.

Super Middleweight

This fight for the undisputed Super MiddleWeight crown against Caleb Plant took place in November 2021. Once again, he got the victory KOing his opponent in the 11th round.

Fights with Gennady Golovkin

Canelo Alvarez faced Golovkin for the third time on September 18, 2022 in Las Vegas. The two had fought twice before, the first fight ending in a controversial draw. This time, however, Golovkin fought a bigger, stronger, and more confident Alvarez.

While both men were on good terms before their first fight, the relationship between the two has been strained. After a positive test for banned substance clenbuterol in Alvarez's bloodstream, the two men went into many arguments, Golovkin accusing Alvarez to cheat and that his past success are the result of using banned substances.

Golovkin was an Olympic silver medalist in 2004. He made his pro debut in 2006 and went on to become the WBA and IBO middleweight champion in 2011. He has fought many top contenders, including Kell Brook and David Lemieux. Recently, we won over Sergiy Derevyanchenko, who was ranked No. 1 in the world at 168 pounds.

Alvarez Has Been Compared To Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Canelo Alvarez has been called a "big" fighter, but the two boxers are very different. Mayweather is a 147-pounder, while Alvarez is at 154 pounds. Although Mayweather is an excellent puncher, his style is based more on accuracy than brute strength, and Alvarez could be a big problem for Mayweather.
