It is obvious that most humanities subjects, such as History, Geography, Public
Administration Polity, are included in both syllabus 1 and II of the UPSC examination; hence studying humanities during the early study years is advisable.
On the other hand, Economics, Philosophy, and Ethics are subjects covered in GS II and IV, which are equally good to go but can also be studied extensively during graduation.
Another important factor to note here is that these humanities subjects are given weightage during the Prelims and Mains examinations. Similarly, the optional subject list is quite exhaustive, with most of them included in the Humanities stream. Students can also choose from these options subjects for their Civil Services Examination
Yet another helpful analysis will help students decide on which stream should they opt for having a better foundation for pursuing their UPSC dream.
