There are so many ways to light up lives, yet some choose the most low-profile ones.

Nidarshana Gowani of Kamala Ankibai Ghamandiram Gowani Trust is doing a lot this Diwali to ward off darkness and bring light to the lives of desolate people. Ms.Gowani believes that life is unusually unfair to some people, and it is important for privileged folks to do everything in their means to uplift them.

The customs of Deep Deepavali in Ayodhya are not hidden from anyone and the city lights up each year with lakhs of earthen lamps that make it a joy to behold. This year on the birth anniversary of Lt. Lata Mangeshkar ji, the chief minister, Shri Yogi Adityanath declared the government's intent to light up 14 lakh earthen lamps on deep Deepavali in Ayodhya.

Kamala Trust recognized this opportunity as a great way to uplift those under the poverty line and went in the search of families that have been into pottering for numerous decades. With the help of the local MLA, the trust recognized 5 families who are entrusted with the job of handcrafting 51 thousand lamps for the occasion. Ms. Gowani, assured the families that their skills will be put to use for the pious occasion and that the efforts of the chief minister will be complemented with opportunities for these families.

The families have since been committed to the task and have been creating diyas day and night. The trust also offered them whatever was required to make the vision an astounding success. Kamala Trust did not wait for a government contract for this initiative and did whatever they could to light up the lives of these families, this Diwali.

Now on the occasion of Deep Deepavali, these lamps will be presented by the NGO to the government. This will also help to pay a tribute to the legendary singer, Lt. Ms. Lata Mangeshkar.

This is not an isolated effort by Ms. Nidarshana and the trust. Kamala Ankibai Ghamandiram Gowani trust has been working hard to spread joy in a multitude of fields including the welfare of the transgender community, self-employment opportunities for women, felicitation ceremonies and opportunities for widows of army officers, HPV vaccination drives, temple and Dharamshala development initiatives, meals for healthcare workers, efforts for old age homes, sanitization and health camps, feeding drives for stray animals, sports tournaments, food distribution drives, poverty alleviation initiatives, etc.

We hope more people approach Diwali just like Kamala Trust and strive to make the world a better place. We also wish for a better future for the beneficiary families.
