Originally from Vadodara, Gujarat, Patel moved to the US for college at Rutgers University and stayed, focusing on her business ventures since 2003. Now based in the US, Patel has built a million-dollar empire, with Couture For Cause as her flagship non-profit, blending fashion with philanthropy. She raised significant funds through couture auctions, earning recognition from Forbes Next 1000 and scoring an invite to the fashion extravaganza, Met Gala 2024, debuting in custom Iris Van Herpen couture.
Just before her MET Gala 2024 debut, she spoke to Vogue and stated, "I wanted my debut look to be something that celebrates my heritage and also combines my love couture, and when I heard of the theme, Iris Van Herpen seemed like the obvious choice."
This Dutch designer's haute couture style is out of this world, drawing inspiration from nature in really unique and extreme ways. They make one-of-a-kind outfits, sometimes with help from Indian embroidery houses they've teamed up with before. Which resulted in a breathtaking nude gown that reaches the floor, sculpted beautifully with a corset shaped like a butterfly and a train that has scalloped edges.
Following the theme 'Garden of Time,' Patel's dress hugs her body and has a surprising touch: there are these kinetic butterflies wrapped around her arms like opera gloves, fluttering their wings slowly.
After the ensemble went viral, netizens began to draw comparisons to Uorfi Javed's latest creation which featured butterflies popping out of a voluminous gown.

About MET Gala 2024
This year's Met Gala dress code, "The Garden of Time," takes its cue from the 1962 short story of the same name by J.G. Ballard, which dovetails nicely with the latest Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute exhibition, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, which opens to the public on Friday, May 10, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
