The first quarter of the year ended with Blood Money and Bumboo failing to make any impact at the box office. Tradesmiths say the Kunal Khemu starrer is definitely not going to make any money for the makers.
Pegging the opening weekend figures at about Rs 5.25 crore, trade analyst Komal Nahta says that the makers could lose at least a crore or so on their investment. He attributes the low collections to lack of face value in the film.
Trade observer Amod Mehra asserts, "The music didn't work, the star cast isn't working and the story has been rejected."
A senior executive with a national multiplex chain points out that Blood Money had not caught on the pre-release buzz. "On an average, the occupancy during the weekend would have been about 30 per cent. But that's not enough despite the low investment of Rs 16-18 crore, including prints and advertising," he said.
Wrath Of The Titans isn't however doing too badly. Prakhar Joshi, programming head of a multiplex chain says, "The average occupancy during the weekend was about 35-40 per cent, which is pretty good." u00a0
