Remember the film Chittagong that was supposed to release right after Ashutosh Gowarikar's Khelen Hum Ji Jaan Se? The release of the film, based on the same subject of the 1930's Chittagong uprising, was apparently stalled because of some vested interests.

Finally, the film made by Bedabrata Pain is all set to see the light of the day, thanks to Anurag Kashyap. Says director and writer Bedabrata, "Everyone talks about promoting independent cinema, but there are very few people who work towards it.

When Anurag saw the film, he was absolutely delighted and I am thankful that he and Sunil Bohra have supported the film," and adds, "When Anurag saw the film he was absolutely delighted."

Speaking about a big star's alleged hand in delaying Chittagong's release, the filmmaker says, "All that is water under the bridge. In fact I consider it a blessing in disguise because I got a lot of time to work on the music and the technical aspects of the film."

While KHJJS sank without a trace at the box office, eminent names like Vishal Bhardwaj have put their word behind Chittagong.

The filmmaker adds, "The story of the teenagers who fought for their nation is relevant even today. In 2006, we got a chance to meet freedom fighter Delzad Hiwale, on whom the protagonist of my film is based. So you will see how realistic the depiction is."
