Nana Patekar offers a new perspective on playing a cop for the umpteenth time in his upcoming flick
Nana Patekar, who will be seen in this week's release Shagird, has been fielding posers since the last few days as deftly as essaying an encounter specialist in the movie.

The maverick actor says he talks about his projects only when they are moving enough for him. And Shagird is one of those movies. We ask him ufffd
The first thought after seeing the film?
I made it, liked it, loved it. That's why I am talking about it... otherwise, I wouldn't.
Did you have to prepare extensively for the role?
I was told that the role is based on an encounter specialist in New Delhi. But I preferred to be ignorant about it. The director (Tigmanshu Dhulia) had readied everything for me. He had done all his research. He had created the format, I just had to step in and act.
Essaying a cop comes easy to you. Your earlier outing Ab Tak Chhappan also had you as an encounter specialist.
I don't look at the role but at the character I have to play. It is about the attitude that you can instill in the character. Whether you are a cop or an offender, it is all about the attitude you put in the role.
Whatever happened to you plans of directing a film again?
That plan is on. I have written the script. It is about relationships. It is just that I never got down to doing it. But I will. As of now, I have not ascertained the casting.
Your son Malhar was to be launched...
I don't think he wants to act. He wants to be a writer-director. He is very different from me. He is 27 and old enough to choose what he wants to do. All I can say is that he has to be committed to his work.
