Yash Birla's bulging biceps and rippling muscles greet you as he enters his gymnasium in his sprawling Malabar Hill bungalow.

But ask Yash who his ideal is, and he says, "I feel John Abraham has one of the best physiques I've seen. I admire his dedication and his passion for fitness." Yash, who's bringing out his autobiography next year, has also released a DVD on fitness recently. He shares his fitness mantras and more with CS:

Managing your passion
I'm able to take out time for it because health and fitness is important to me. If it's your passion and your heart and soul are in it, then you cannot not find time for it. If you don't find time, you will not find satisfaction. You will not be content with yourself. Time management is according to your willpower. It's very easy to manage everything if you really want to do it.

Mix and match
I work out around 8 pm everyday which includes weight training four days a week. Weight training is something I will not feel satisfied without. Twice a week, I indulge in some kind of cardiovascular exercise. That may include cycling on the road or taking a long walk with friends or family. It can be a walk and talk for a long time. I might also do some form of yoga, power yoga or martial arts. For me, the cardiovascular part has to be a recreation - something I enjoy doing.u00a0

Diet mantra
What you eat and the timings, all makes a difference. If you work out a lot but eat things that are not right for you then you will never achieve your target. Nobody's telling you not to eat but eat the right things at the right time. Going on strict diets on short terms are bad, they will harm your health in the long run. Even if you're trying to lose weight, it has to be a slow and steady loss.

Healthy cravings
I crave for things like candy floss and ice gola. I love sweets so I indulge in them sometimes. But my mind is attuned to health, so I am automatically attracted to healthy things. So people look at spinach juice and say 'yuck', I say 'wow'! I find it delicious and relish it because I know it's healthy. Ultimately, it's all in your mind. If I feel it's going to do me good, I will find it tasty.u00a0
