Former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee breathed his last on August 16 at AIIMS hospital in Delhi. The entire country payed condolences and tribute to the late PM in their own way. Days after his sad demise, actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan shared a few throwback photos with the Prime Minister on his Instagram account. In those photos, the actress is seen sharing a laugh with the statesman. She captioned the photo as: "Respect. Rest In Peace."
In the set of photos shared, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is seen in a light-hearted conversation with the Prime Minister. One of the photos also has the late Bollywood actress Sridevi. Apart from Aishwarya, actors like Rajinikanth, Priyanka Chopra, Dhanush, Vivek Oberoi, Dia Mirza and others paid tribute to him. Megastar and Aishwarya's father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan paid a tribute to the PM through his Twitter account.

Actress Priyanka Chopra had written, "The nation will always remember (his visionary ideas and contributions)." Film industry maverick Rajinikanth offered condolence by writing, "I'm saddened to hear the demise of a great statesman Shri.Vajpayee ji. May his soul rest in peace."
Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar dedicated a song to Vajpayee, and also wrote, "The news of respected former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's demise has been shocking. I used to regard him like my father, and he had made me his daughter. He was so dear to me that I used to call him 'Dadda'. I feel the same pain I felt when my father had passed away. May his soul rest in peace"
