Bappi Lahiri's son Bappa who weds Taneesha Verma, daughter of action coordinator Mahendra Verma, have planned an elaborate sangeet ceremony on April 15. As reported âWedding bells' (Hitlist, March 5) the Lahiris are having a big fat Bollywood wedding as both the families are associated with the industry. The wedding ceremony is on April 16 followed by a reception on April 18.
Says Bappa, "Music is the mainstay of our lives so obviously the sangeet ceremony will dominate with dad and his tunes."
The who's who of Bollywood especially from the music industry have been invited and several of them will also be performing. "All the musicians who have been with my dad will perform live.
There are lots of surprise items being put up by family members and friends. There is also an audio-visual looking at the Lahiris and their music to add to the fun," adds Bappa.u00a0
Here's what's in store at the sangeet....
THE FAMILY: Bappa and his bride will dance to his father's Ooh La La track. Bappi Lahiri and his wife Chitrani as well as Bappa's sister Rema and her hubby Govind Bansal along with their kid Swastik will also dance to Bappi's tracks. Taneesha's father Mahender Verma and uncle Tinnu Verma along with their other brothers will do a skit together.
THE MUSIC MAKERS: The special guests Daler Mehndi,Vishal-Shekhar, Alka Yagnik and Mika will perform.
THE FRIENDS: Shraddha Kapoor (Shakti Kapoor's daughter) who is Taneesha's best pal will get jiggy to a medley of tracks which include Bebo O Bebo and Teri Or. While among Bappa's friends Mahakshay (Mimoh) Chakraborthy will do a re-enactment of his father Mithun's I Am A Disco Dancer track. Sophie Chowdhry is doing a Chikni Chameli act. Riya and Raima Sen and several others are doing surprise acts.
