Sitting on the rocks against a clear blue sky, Kailash Kher is in a sunny mood. And it's not without a reason.

The singer-composer-lyricist, who performed at the Royal Festival Hall, London last month, is gearing up for his new reality show and album. "I am a pagal khiladi and a fakkad anari. I like to believe that I know my game (music), but I am totally ignorant about everything else," says Kailash. He talks to CS about being an atypical rockstar:

Who: Kailash Kher
What: Revealing the man behind the voice
Where: At the Versova beach

Well, I don't believe that clothes and extra razzmatazz make a great singer. Of course, I do keep experimenting with my looks, but I keep my style as simple as possible. My style guru is lord Shiva. Now, he is someone who roams around wearing tiger skin, serpents and ornaments made from the bark of trees. Yet, he is considered to be a very handsome man. You need to have the inner intensity to move people time and again.u00a0

Being me
I feel like a rockstar only when I am on stage. At that time, I'm transformed into a completely different person. But the rest of the time, I feel like everybody else. I like to spend time introspecting about God and life. And I enjoy spending time with normal people. I find it very strange when I see actors/musicians darkening the glasses of their cars. Arre, you spend half your life wanting to be famous and then you hide behind glares? I love talking with people from all walks of life. But I hate it when people touch my feet. I have strictly told all the kids of my upcoming reality show not to touch my feet. I don't want to be taken so seriously, yaar!

Just because I have a spiritual bent of mind, doesn't mean that I don't care about the money. I am a family man after all and I need to maintain a lifestyle that's at par with my contemporaries. The biggest luxury of my life is my BMW 7-series car. But that doesn't mean that I can't travel by rickshaws if need be. I have always tried to strike a balance.

I don't believe in partying or networking to further my career. My entire free time is devoted to my family. I love playing with Kabir (son) in my spare time. I only attend work-related functions. I feel out of place at filmy parties. I don't smoke, drink or talk too loudly. I find it very funny when I hear people saying lines like, "Hey, looking cool, nice to meet you." And I don't know a thing about building contacts and stuff. I don't have any intelligence to indulge in that kind of stuff.
