In the contract
Anil admits, "Everything that I earn from Slumdog will go to Plan India. It was a part of my contract while signing the film. I hope that the children of Plan India and slum kids all over benefit from this.
I believe that the success of SM has come from the good wishes of these children. None of us have made this film thinking of commerce.
I want the children to be rehabilitated and identify and prevent child abuse and trafficking."
Anil visited Bharatpur village in Rajasthan last week. He visited the children of the sex workers there. "This was his third visit. Earlier Anil had visited a project in Mumbai and an urban slum project in Delhi.
In Bharatpur, we focus on the children of girls who are in the sex trade. Their caste is called the Vediya community.
The girls earn and support their family this way. Plan India educates their children and prevents them from being trafficked," says Bhagyashree, a spokesperson for the NGO.
Speak up!
Anil drove from Delhi to Bharatpur for six hours. He says, "Plan India has educated 50 per cent of the children of these women and I had gone to meet the children.
These boys are brainwashed into marrying virgins. I was completely intrigued, stunned and emotional when I interacted with them personally."u00a0
