Even though Atithi Tum Kab Jaaoge (ATKJ) starring Ajay Devgn, Konkana Sen Sharma and Paresh Rawal went on the sets only last month, one unit of the film has been shooting some important sequences for three months now.

One sequence is that of the Ganpati visarjan, which was shot at the Girgaon and Juhu beaches with a multi-camera set up in September.
Recently, the other half of the sequence was filmed with the cast and about 2000 extras, who were called in to recreate the visarjan in a controlled environment.

Early preparations
The makers know exactly what they wanted for the film and that's why the preparations began before September. Usually, filmmakers use stock shots for events like the visarjan but the makers of ATKJ wanted to do it right. A source reveals, "Around 2000 daily wage artistes were called for the crowd scene and the shoot was to be filmed at Versova Beach. But when bystanders found out that Ajay was shooting, they too joined in the filming. By the time the first scene was set up, there was a throng of 5,000 present."

Producer Amita Pathak confirms, "We were shooting on the beach and couldn't really stop people who were already there. So we used it to our advantage and the shoot happened without any hassles. There are many slums near the beach and peopleu00a0 popped up hearing that Ajay, Konkana and Paresh were shooting there."

The film releases on February 22, 2009. Ashwani Dhir is directing the film. The film is a co-production between Amita Pathak and Warner Brothers, India.
