When Rituparno Ghosh decided to dub Bipasha Basu's voice in Shob Charitro Kalponik, Bipasha fought back saying she was quite equipped to speak for herself. But now the fight seems to have gone out of her. Bipasha has apparently decided to wash her hands off the project.

Bips: I tried!

Producers Big Pictures are going ahead with the release of Shob Charitro Kalponik in August with another voice speaking for Bipasha. The actress says, "I've chased them enough. There's nothing more I can do. As an artiste, I should be allowed to dub. I've every moral and legal right to do so.

And the matter was discussed before we started the film." Apparently, the director had assured Bipasha that her voice and diction were fine for the NRI character she was playing.

Now Bipasha has reached the end of her patience. "If they've changed their mind about doing my voice with me, for lack of funds or time, I can't help it."

The actress insists the dubbed voice used doesn't suit her. "It's the voice of a much older woman, somebody who's 50-plus for sure. It doesn't suit me at all. It sounds strange."

Amit Khanna, chairman of Reliance Big Pictures, says he wasn't even aware of the issue, "If it's a creative issue, it's between the director and Bipasha and we let the matter rest."
