Sachin-Jigar, music composers of Parineeti Chopra and Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer, 'Meri Pyaari Bindu', always had it in mind to amaze listeners with the soundtrack. The decision to rope in the actress to croon a track then, came as no surprise to her fans. Pari has been lauded for the song, Maana Ke Hum, which marks her playback debut.
"We weren't expecting this response. Parineeti was discovered during 'Shuddh Desi Romance' (2013). We wanted her to sing then, but didn't have a suitable song. Since she plays a singer in this film, the script organically lends itself to this development," says Jigar.
Sachin cannot understand the hullabaloo around actors turning singers. "Did anyone question the actors of [the Hollywood film] 'La La Land' (2016)? When crossovers are organic, it's the best thing for a film. No one can sing Parineeti's songs better than her, because she is living that part."
In order to create their latest track, Ye Jawaani, the composers had to revisit their college days in Kolkata. "It is a rock 'n' roll number inspired by Elvis Presley's style of music. We had Shammi Kapoor in our minds while composing it. It's been crooned by Nakash Aziz and Jonita Gandhi," says Jigar.
