Ekta Kapoor's new web series based on Subhash Chandra Bose, 'Bose: Dead Or Alive' has been released. Interestingly Rajkummar Rao has essayed Subhash Chandra Bose in the series. There was buzz regarding Ekta Kapoor's show for a while. Not only did Rajkummar Rao gain 12 kg for the role, he also used minimal prosthetic make-up. He even shaved off half his head as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Hansal Mehta is the executive producer of this show. Hansal revealed during the trailer launch of 'Bose: Dead Or Alive' that he asked Ekta Kapoor whether he could be a part of the show upon learning of Rajkummar Rao's involvement with it and that it was based on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

Hansal Mehta also revealed that his films weren't successful for a while and in 2011 when he saw Ekta Kapoor's film 'Raginni MMS' in which he saw Rajkummar Rao perform for the first time, he then made up his mind that he would be the titular 'Shahid' of his film based on the lawyer. After collaborating with Rajkummar, Hansal said his career got a new lease of life. Hansal Mehta worked with Rajkummar Rao in 'City Lights', 'Shahid' and 'Aligarh.' He compared his collaboration with Rajkummar Rao as a spiritual journey. 'Bose: Dead Or Alive' is being directed by Pulkit.

While talking about Rajkummar Rao's role in the series, Ekta Kapoor added that he has put in the same effort he does with all his film roles. Ekta had always wanted to create something based on this subject matter. She said to have never felt that this could be made into a film because of the belief that the digital platform has the potential of showcasing something unique and amazing.

Rajkummar Rao revealed he read Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's autobiography and visited Netaji Bhavan in Kolkata in preparation for his role. Ekta Kapoor's team has researched the topic for 18 months. While prepping for the role Rajkummar Rao has revealed he felt a sense of pride for the nation and thought how it would have been if he was born during Netaji's time. Rajkummar has also said the series would uncover some unknown and never-before-seen aspects of Subhash Chandra Bose's life.

Rajkummar Rao's role in his newly released film 'Bareilly Ki Barfi' has been well received so far. Hansal Mehta's 'Simran' is expected to release soon.
