For many women, Brett Lee is God's gift to cricket. The oohs-aahs that flooded the room when the Australian cricketer made an entry, could have turned us deaf. And when he said haanji, in his oh-so-cute way, we journos almost forgot what we had to ask him.
Dressed casually in dark blue denims and a red tee, he seemed quite at ease as he joined the conference on a cricket education programme.u00a0 Even though he was coming from a gruelling practice session, he seemed all charged up to field the bouncers that we tossed at him.
He didn't want to discuss his sex symbol status because it had "nothing to do with cricket." For now, he was happy talking about making a difference to the misfortunes of Kings XI Punjab. He said, "Yeah, my team is in a bit of a spot but I believe that we can bounce back. And I hope that I can make a difference to the squad."
But, how can the interaction be complete without a scribe bringing up the mention of his franchise owner Preity Zinta. In praise of her, Brett said, "She is not only a great actor but also a great leader. She keeps us motivated." The cricketer was clearly benevolent in his compliments. Talking of India, he said, "I am absolutely in love with India. At times, I feel that I might have been Indian in my previous birth."
