After 'Gabbar Is Back' struck gold at the ticket windows last weekend, Shoojit Sircar's 'Piku' has not only kept up with the momentum but has also succeeded in bringing the family audience back to theatres. (Read the review of 'Piku' here) The Amitabh Bachchan-Deepika Padukone-Irrfan starrer has collected Rs 25 crore in its opening weekend.

Trade analyst Amod Mehra says, "'Piku' opened to average houses on the day of its release, but thanks to a powerful word-of-mouth buzz, its collections jumped over the weekend."

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh says families are making a beeline to watch the film and growth in business is an indicator. "Who could have thought that a film on constipation and motions could be so entertaining? The audience has clearly appreciated the content and actors' performances," he adds.
