Censors say yes to male kiss

The Censor Board has passed a kissing scene between Maradona Rebello and Amit Purohit in Pankh without any cuts. Another sequence, where Maradona goes fully nude has also been passed, albeit with his back blurred, and a few words have been beeped out.

Director Sudipto Chattopadhyaya is upset that Pankh has been portrayed as a lurid film. He claims that the kiss is actually a case of molestation as Amit's character, in a drunken state, assumes Maradona's character Jerry is gay and forcefully kisses him. He also claims the nude scene is a pivotal scene as it is an attempt by Jerry to come out from under his mother's domination.

This is the first time two male actors will be seen kissing on screen in a Hindi film. Earlier, Madhur Bhandarkar had shot a male kiss featuring Samir Soni for Fashion, but he later deleted it before he submitted the film to the Censor Board. The Censors are also yet to pass a kissing scene between Rahul Bose and Arjun Mathur in Onir's film Omar.
