Aamir Khan's production Delhi Belly will not hit screens this year. The English film directed by debutant Abhinay Deo has an ensemble cast which includes Vir Das, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Shenaz Treasurywala, Poorna Jaganathan and Imran Khan among others.
It is learnt that when Aamir saw the film he was not too excited with the end result. Mr Perfectionist expressed certain reservations about Delhi Belly and wanted drastic editing to be done.
Busy at the moment
Says a source, "He has told Abhinay that he himself will sit at the editing table. As he is busy at the moment with Rajkumar Hirani's 3 Idiots and his other commitments, he will be give undivided unattention to Delhi Belly as soon as he wraps up his present assignments."
Aamir, who has a keen sense of filmmaking is known for ensuring that all his productions are up to his expectations. For Imran's debut film Jaane Tu, he had pulled out his director cousin Mansoor Khan from his away from semi-retirement in Coorg to oversee the production, as he was busy with Ghajini at the same time.
Adds the source, "Aamir is known to work in a single project at any given time and sets extremely high standards for himself. Even if the film he is acting in is not his production, he gives it more than just being an actor in it. With Delhi Belly being his production, he wants it to be up to the mark."
The official spokesperson of Aamir Khan Productions maintains, "We have not announced the release date of any of our films. There is no delay in the project. The shooting of Delhi Belly was completed on schedule and the post production is currently in progress. The release date will, in any case, be finalised only after the international distribution is in place."
