Buzz is Yash Raj is planning a Hindi remake of the popular TV series
It is believed that David Duchovny's popular show Californication is being revamped by a team at Yash Raj, to suit the desi palate. Sources in the production house reveal that there are talks to bring the show to Indian
Yash Raj have already started making their foray into television and have started commissioning daily soaps as well as reality shows. The remake of Californication is said to be a part of this venture into the small screen. It is learnt that the production house is in talks with Ranvir Shorey for the lead role of the show while other characters are being worked out.
According to an insider, "Ranvir suits the role because of his quirky personality. Also he's a brilliant actor and the role requires someone who's multifaceted. If things work out, then this will be his first weekly drama series on tv. In the past he has hosted a chat show with his friend Vinay Pathak called Ranvir, Vinay Aur Kaun."
Yash Raj has said to have signed an exclusive content deal with Sony wherein they would produce fiction as well as non-fictional shows for them. Rafiq Gangjee of Yash Raj maintained that there was no truth to the rumour. "We areu00a0 not doing a remake of Californication."
What's Californication about
Californication is an Emmy award-winning show about a novelist played by Duchovny and has had three successful seasons. The protagonist, Hank Moody (David Duchovny), is a troubled novelist whose move to California coupled with his writer's block complicate the relationships with his ex-girlfriend Karen and daughter Becca. Californication's other main characters are Karen van der Beek (Natascha McElhone), Rebecca 'Becca' Moody (Madeleine Martin), Charlie Runkle (Evan Handler), Marcy Runkle (Pamela Adlon) and Mia Cross (Madeleine Zima). The show has been nominated and won several awards including winning one Emmy Award (nominated for two others) and one Golden Globe Award (nominated for three others).
