Why the cast and crew of Prakash Jha's 'Satyagraha' called off their Independence Day Parade appearance in New York at the last moment

The cast and crew of Prakash Jha's upcoming film are leaving no stone unturned to squash rumours about Satyagraha being based on social activist Anna Hazare. So much so that they even dropped their plans at the last minute of attending the famous Independence Day parade in New York, just because the veteran was also part of it.

The Independence Day parade in Manhattan is an event earmarked in the calendar, which is well attended by the Indian diaspora living in the States. Says a source, "The unit had planned to promote their film at the venue as it also went with the subject of the movie. The producers had also given a go-ahead and the actors' dates were being worked out. Kareena was already present in the US with Saif Ali Khan. However, when they found out Anna Hazare was also going to be there, they decided to cancel their plans."

Ever since there has been buzz about Amitabh Bachchan's role being inspired by Anna, the film's team has vehemently denied any similarity. "Many are of the opinion that even some events in the film have been inspired by what Anna did. So they decided it was best not to be seen with him on the same platform." Officials at the production house and Jha remained unavailable for comment.
