Reality shows are all the rage these days and so are shows based on the rural life. So the smart thing to do would be to devise a show based in a village, which is exactly what Imagine TV has done with the soon-to-launch Desi Girl.
Take eight celeb city chicks, preferably ones with a penchant for drama and plant them in a village (although what we saw of Sialba Majri, 40 minutes from Chandigarh, wasn't strictly in the interiors) and get them to live the hard difficult life (basically do what most women in our country do wake up at the crack of dawn, make tea, cook, work in the farm, make cowdung cakes and so on), and broadcast them cribbing.
So here's Sambhavna Seth, Monica Bedi, Kashmera Shah, Roshni Chopra, Aushima Sawhney, Rucha Gujarathi, Ishita Arun, Anmol Singh playing the gaon ki goris ruing the discomfort of living in cramped, non AC quarters. "The heat is killing out here. But I've managed to train my mind to ignore all this discomfort," says Ishita.
It's not just complaints either. Sambhavna claims her Punjabi is getting better and Kashmera's finally learnt the knack of catching chickens. Says Kashmera, "Arre, you just need to be calm. Running at them will only make them panic."
The girls, are getting a fair share of attention even in this remote place. "The village kids and elders smile at us. I'm good friends with the 'bhabhi' I'm staying with and slowly, I am learning to get better with my chores," adds Kashmera.u00a0u00a0u00a0
