If bogged down by box-office failures, many actors may resort to doing sequels of films that have previously fared well - knowing that to be an easy formula for success. But not Emraan Hashmi.
"Raaz is a closed chapter. I don't want to do another one in that series," he declares. It comes as a surprise considering the horror series has given him some of his biggest hits. Ask him if the debacle of Raaz Reboot (2016) has triggered the decision and he says, "I don't want to be part of a sequel just for the sake of it."
Emraan Hashmi explains that franchises no longer guarantee success. "For many actors, sequels or franchise films are like a safety net. But recently, we had many examples of sequels that haven't worked. Making sequels is becoming tricky, as the audience has become intelligent and will watch it only if it interests them."

Despite their successful collaboration, Hashmi moved out of Vishesh Films a few years ago. However, he's open to working with them. "We will only work together if something substantial comes up. I am sure if Bhatt saab [Mahesh Bhatt] has a script in mind for me, he will bounce it off."
