Fashion takes over Twitter for #LakmeFashionWeek

August 23rd, 2016: This year's Lakmé Fashion Week Winter-Festive season (@LakmeFashionWk) comes donning an exciting Twitter avatar, and lovers of couture and fashion can be in on exclusive announcements, sneak peeks, red carpet glam, and live Q&As with their favourite designers.

The first-ever digital curtain raiser for LFW was unveiled on August 12 on Twitter and offered a glimpse of what to expect at this year's showcase.

Through Twitter videos and photos, users were treated to first looks of collections by designers Manish Malhotra (@ManishMalhotra), Rajesh Pratap Singh, Tarun Tahiliani (@Tarun_Tahiliani), Ashish Soni (@_n_ashish_soni), among others.

Just as the five-day affair is about to kickstart on August 24, fashion has taken over the Twitter India #BlueRoom all week. To bring you closer to your favourite style gurus, we partnered with LFW to host 5 top fashion designers for a Twitter Q&A. Users Tweeted their fashion questions to @LakmeFashionWk using #AskLFW and take the fashion conversation beyond the runway.

Designers Manish Malhotra (@ManishMalhotra), Shantanu & Nikhil (@shantanunikhil), Nikhil Thampi (@nikhil_thampi), Kunal Rawal (@kunalrawalvibe), and fashion director, Grazia magazine, Ekta Rajani (@EktaRajani) engaged with fashionistas on Twitter and through the Q&A shared enjoyable anecdotes about their career in fashion, collaborations, tips for up-and-coming designers, new trends, collection details, and even indulged enthusiastic users by promising to design their wedding trousseaus for free!

Designer Manish Malhotra married fashion and technology in more ways than one this year. After engaging with fans over a Twitter Q&A, he took to Periscope to talk about his glamorous ‘cocktail' collection in real-time, and also announced his showstoppers for the first time in this #OnlyOnTwitter video. This year, the designer has chosen actors Shraddha Kapoor (@ShraddhaKapoor) and Sushant Singh (@ItsSSR) to walk the runway for his festive showcase.
