Bollywood may have more men at its helm but with changing times, women are not lagging behind either. Armed with well-chalked out roles, actresses have proved their mettle time and again. A case in point would be actress Deepika Padukone's back-to-back hits last year. HitList tells you what to expect from Bollywood's top actresses in 2014...
Sonakshi Sinha
Last year, Sonakshi's Lootera won her a lot of appreciation but her other two films, 'Bullett Raja' and 'R...Rajkumar' had an average run at the BO. This year, she has Action Jackson with Ajay Devgn that is being directed by Prabhudeva; 'Holiday', featuring Akshay Kumar; and 'Tevar', Boney Kapoor's home production with his son Arjun Kapoor. She is also likely to make her Telugu film debut with Mahesh Babu-starrer 'Shivam'.
Vidya Balan
Vidya and Farhan Akhtar's film, 'Shaadi Ke Side Effects', will be the first release for both actors. The actress plays a detective in 'Bobby Jasoos' and she will also be part of Mohit Suri's 'Humari Adhuri Kahaani' with Emraan Hashmi and Rajkumar Rao.
Parineeti Chopra
Parineeti will start her year with debutant director Vinil Mathew's 'Hasse Toh Phasse', which will release next month, followed by 'Dawat-E-Ishq' with her co-star Aditya Roy Kapoor. This will be followed by 'Kill Dill' with Ranveer Singh.
Huma Qureshi
Huma started her year on a good note with the Madhuri Dixit-starrer 'Dedh Ishqiya' and has already earned appreciation for her work. Her forthcoming release is X, which is being made by eleven directors. She will also romance Shahid Kapoor in 'Dekho Magar Pyaar Se' later this year.
Sonam Kapoor
Sonam has finished the first schedule of sister Rhea's production, a remake of the film 'Khuboosurat'. Her next film with Ayushmann Khurana is titled 'Bewakoofiya'. She is also likely to begin shooting for Arbaaz Khan's upcoming directorial venture, 'Dolly Ki Doli'.
Alia Bhatt
Alia has a busy 2014 ahead of her. There is already a lot of buzz surrounding her role in Imtiaz Ali's 'Highway', which stars Randeep Hooda. She will then be seen in the film '2 States' with Arjun Kapoor. The year will also see her team up with 'Student of The Year' co-star Varun Dhawan in Karan Johar's film, 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya' that is being directed by debutant director Shashank Khaitan.
Anushka Sharma
In a career spanning just five years, Anushka has already made a name for herself in Bollywood. In fact, she is all set to producer her first film 'NH10' this year. She will also be seen in Anurag Kashyap's 'Bombay Velvet' with Rabir Kapoor and in Rajkumar Hirani's 'Peekay'. along with Aamir Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput.
Deepika Padukone
Deepika has three films in her kitty. For starters, there's 'Happy New Year', starring Shah Rukh Khan and directed by Farah Khan, where Deepika will play a Marathi character. Her next release will be 'Finding Fenny' starring Arjun Kapoor and a cameo by Ranveer Singh. 'Kochadaiiyaan', her film with superstar Rajinikanth, is also slated for a 2014 release. She will also unite with her ex-flame Ranbir Kapoor once again in Imtiaz Ali's next film that has been tentatively titled Window Seat. This apart, she is being considered for Sooraj Barjatya's film with Salman Khan.
Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka's first release of the year will be 'Gunday', starring Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor. This will be followed by Mary Kom's biopic that is being directed by Omung Kumar. The actress is said to be devoting more time to her music career and has not taken up any other film after a relatively low-key 2013 where her only releases were 'Krrish 3' and the remake of 'Zanjeer'.
Kareena Kapoor
Kareena's last commercial hit was 'Talaash' that released two years ago, but this year, she has two films in her kitty - 'Bombay Samurai' and 'Singham 2'. Meanwhile, the future of Karan Johar's film 'Shuddhi' with Hrithik Roshan, and 'Badtameez Dil', featuring Emraan Hashmi, is not clear as work on both films has been stalled.
Katrina Kaif
Katrina, who is currently shooting for Kabir Khan's 'Phantom' with Saif Ali Khan, will begin shooting for 'Bang Bang' opposite Hrithik Roshan. She will also share screen space with alleged beau Ranbir Kapoor in 'Jagga Jasoos', followed by Abhishek Kapoor's film, 'Fitoor'.
