Actor-anchor Angad Bedi believes that your body is like a temple and you should learn to worship it. Fitness has been a way of life for Angad as he's born into a cricketing family (his dad is ex-India spinner Bishan Singh Bedi). "I train six days a week, taking a day off on Sunday," says Angad. He shares his fitness regime with CS readers:
Run baby run
I love running. It has been a habit since childhood. My dad used to take me running on the parks and grounds of Delhi, which helped me build my stamina. In Mumbai, I live opposite Juhu Beach and head there for a run every day. In all, I run around 52 kms a week.u00a0
Weighty issue
I do weights every alternate day. I focus a lot on core muscles, which also involves a lot of free hand training.u00a0 Nothing works your muscles better than lifting your own body weight. I also go swimming once in a while. A hydrotherapy workout in the pool is excellent for improving flexibility.u00a0u00a0
Diet dos
I love eggs, fish and potatoes. I like fish more than meat. Normally, I have vegetarian meals in the afternoon. Dieting is a big no-no for me. I am a big foodie with a massive appetite, so I rather train harder and run that extra mile than starve myself. And, I don't consume protein drinks at all, as I'm against the idea of having artificial substances.
Sporty fun
I love table tennis and basketball as it sharpens my reflexes. These sports build great hand-eye co-ordination. I enjoy beach volleyball as well. I have done a few classes of yoga as I feel it combats water retention. Breathing exercises like meditation are also a great way to de-stress. I would recommend Vipassana to everyone as it has a very calming influence on you.u00a0
Me time
I love watching films and catching up with friends over dinner. Cracking jokes over a few glasses of red wine and good food gives me a lot of pleasure. Back home in Delhi, I play for hours with my dogs. They are great stress-busters!
