He's once again set to tickle you. Actor Sumeet Raghavan will now play the Man Friday to multi-millionaire Dhirubhai in SAB TV's new comedy serial Sajan Re Jhoot Mat Bolo.

He tells CS about his strong affinity to comedy and cows:

Cracking up

As an actor I love to explore various genres, but unfortunately the producers seriously percieve me as a not-too-serious actor!

In fact, I would love to act as a villain or play a romantic or serious role. But since comedy comes naturally to me, I guess I get approached for comic roles.

But let me tell you that comedy too has different genres. There's a sea of difference in the content of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and Sajan Re...

No poker faces

I always tend to see the funny side of life. I just can't keep a poker face, no matter what. I can't even handle glum and gloomy faces around me.

Life is too stressful as it is and so I try and make everyone laugh. But I think it is equally important to be able to laugh at oneself.

I believe that if you crack jokes at others, you should be able to take them on yourself too.

I crack jokes at myself all the time in a show I host on Jaihind, an Internet portal. I thoroughly enjoy laughing; it's the best medicine for any and every problem.

Holy cow

In 1985, as a child artist I was acting in a serial where I had to talk to a cow and feed her. I had to say 'Kapila, dekho mein gaon jaa raha hoon, tum apna khayal rakhna'.

When I extended my hand to feed her the chara, she gave such a mighty tug that I fell off and she tried to kick me.

The three crew members standing close by pulled me away by dragging me with my legs. But that's not all. A few years back I was performing a Marathi show in a field.

Though it was a barren land, there were cows grazing around. I was on stage and as I turned towards the wings with the line 'here comes my dad' an ox walked on the stage.

The audience went up in uproarious laughter and were rolling on the ground. I too cracked up and then made a run as the ox started coming at me!

Garam Dharam

I would like to perform Dharmendra from Sholay or Chupke Chupke. He's hilarious in Chupke Chupke and unbeatable in Sholay.

As Veeru in Sholay, he brings out the humour with amazing skill only Dharmendra could have pulled that off. But I still don't mind giving it a try!
