Ayesha Kapur, the little Michelle McNally from Black, has been riding horses since she was two. She is also an equestrian champion winning a number of dressage events. Ayesha, who lives in on a ranch in Pondicherry rides horses five times a week. Her sport is also her biggest hobby. She tells CS four reasons why she loves riding:
Horsing around
I love riding because I love my horses. They are like my friends, I take care of them and they take care of me. Estigon and Adora are my darlings. They are a mirror to my mood. If I am grumpy or frustrated, they know exactly how I am feeling. Whenever I am with my horses, I forget all my worries and am able to relax.
Lessons learnt
Riding has taught me that if I keep my calm, I can accomplish a lot more. Riding teaches me responsibility and discipline. Owning a horse is not like owning a tennis racket. You will have to make sure that your horse is fed and exercised. So, since I am dealing with an animal as intellegent as a horse, I can't afford to get distracted while I am riding. The moment my thoughts start strayingu00a0 to my friends or school, my horse immediately senses it and I may just end up on the floor spitting out sand. And that is no fun!
One with nature
When I am on my horse, I can be so much more in touch with nature. I can come really close to wild animals and they do not get afraid. And can you imagine anything more fun than being one with one of the most beautiful animals in the world and galloping full speed with the wind in your hair?
Dream workout
Riding is a great sport. It works
all the muscles in the body. And contrary to what most people think,
it's a strenuous exercise for the rider too.
