Ghazal singer turns lyricist with new single, which released on December 31
Talat Aziz
Veteran ghazal singer Talat Aziz unveiled a New Year gift for fans - a single, Meri Dua Hai. The soothing number marks Talat's first attempt as lyricist.
Explaining how the concept of the track took shape, the singer says, "My wife Bina (Aziz) encouraged me to work on the song. I wrote the lyrics on December 25. I sent it to Piyush Shankar (the music arranger for the track), a dynamic composer and singer. He made the number overnight. I dubbed at his home studio the next day."
Teesha Nigam
Talat also got Sonu Nigam's sister, Teesha Nigam, on board for the single. "On December 27, we asked Teesha to come over and sing with me. She reached in two hours and we recorded her voice and made video clips with my phone camera. The video was edited and put together in just two days," he says.
The song was uploaded online on December 31 morning. "Many of my fans have appreciated it. The first artiste-friend to love and share it was Sonu (Nigam). It feels great to work with such young talent."
