Clanking bells and the sound of the Mridamgam ushered the beginning of the end of the 5-day long Lakme Fashion Week. Traditional metal bowls filled with rice made an unlikely pair with tacky Christmas bells dangling from roof to create a fertile space for the Bridal Sutra collection designed by Anamika Khanna. Though matt gold and vermillion were the chosen hues, the spirit was recession-friendly with gauze, mul, crushed silks and cottons taking the theme ahead. Humble gauze sarees were lent richness with Maheshwari borders and threadwork. Luscious kaftans and dresses in dull colours bore gold borders and pleated ghagras were held on the waist by belts.
