Bhopal: Bollywood actress Hema Malini and various other prominent artistes from the country are slated to perform at the Alauddin Khan Sangeet Samaroh, beginning today at Maihar town in Madhya Pradesh's Satna district.
"The prestigious Alauddin Khan Sangeet Samaroh is being organised from January 19 to 21 at Maihar town in Satna. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan would inaugurate the three-day cultural event today evening," a Public Relations officer said today.
"Member of Parliament and Bollywood actress Hema Malini will present dance-drama 'Mahalaxmi' on the concluding day of the event," he said.
"An exhibition by Rahul Rastogi focusing on the life and accomplishments of Ustad Alauddin Khan will also be organised during the samaroh," he informed.
"An Odissi group dance by Odissi Research Foundation of Guru Pankaj Charan will be presented followed by recital of mandolin by Sugato Bhaduri of Kolkata and performance by Chhannulal Mishra of Varanasi," the official said.
Other presentations include vocal recital by Akansha Tiwari, sitar recital by Manoj Kumar Jaiswal, vocal presentation by Aman Jain and Kathak dance by Priti Singh.
"The presentations will also include vocal recital by Purvi Nimgaonkar, sarod duet by Siraj Ali Khan and Ashish Mukhopadhayay of Kolkata, Mohiniattam, Kuchipudi and group Bharatnatyam by Saji M of Bhopal and sitar by Shubhendra Rao of New Delhi," he added.
