The 33-year-old actor, who has starred in films like 'Rang de Basanti' and '3 Idiots', is making his debut as a solo lead in his 13 year long career with 'Ferrari Ki Sawaari'.
When asked whether he thinks he can live up to audience's expectations, Sharman said, "I don't care. The audience has the choice not to care and likewise do I. I do my work with complete faith and belief. There are several parts I have played over the years and it's very important for me to enjoy what I do.
This is my first film as a solo lead and I am extremely proud of it. I am sure the audience will like it and appreciate that such a film has been made in our country, thanks to Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajesh Mapuskar," he further added.
Sharman went through 30-40 auditions for the film before he landed the role. "The fact that I loved the script and that I wanted to work with Vidhu Vinod Chopra productions where I knew that quality would be ensured, made me work hard for it. I feel privileged to work in the film. 30-40 auditions is not a big deal," he said.
The film shows Sharman as a middle class man striving to fulfil his son's dreams. Having played closer to life roles in this film and his previous film '3 Idiots', Sharman says his next will see him a different avatar.
"I am here for the long haul, for at least 30-40 years and I want to do films in various genres. Common man is how you see me right now, next you'll see me in a different avatar," he said.u00a0
