Dharma ka karmaKaran Johar's Dharma Productions has been slapped with a $150,000 lawsuit in Philadelphia, US for allegedly failing to pay several local actors and vendors for their Saif-Kareena starrer directed by Rensil D'Silva.
The lawsuit cites breach of contract by Dharma and its partner Swish Films of Melbourne. The lawsuit seeks in excess of $150,000 for unpaid services and expenses for 25 vendors hired.
The dispute began when a Swish producer sent out cheques in late December which bounced. Apoorva Mehta, CEO, Dharma Productions, clarifies, "We hired Swish as line producers.
We are as much the victims as the people who haven't been paid. We remitted all the funds as and when required and have clear statements of accounts to prove that we are not in the wrong.
We don't owe anybody any money and we have signed letters from them saying they were responsible for not paying people." Okay, if you say so!
