The last couple of years saw several releases where women played key roles in the films' storyline. While some films raked in critical acclaim, others scored mega bucks at the box office. And this year too, there is no stopping the trend. Here's dekko at five filmmakers, who are banking on their leading ladies for their upcoming projects.
Anubhav Sinha
The producer's next Gulab Gang has as many as seven women, including Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla among the others.
The film is said to be inspired from the real life story of a group of lady social outlaws in Madhya Pradesh, who took law in their own hands to fight social injustice in the state. The film is directed by Soumik Sen.
Tigmanshu Dhulia
Tishu's film, helmed by Sai Kabir, has Kangna Ranaut playing the lead role and deals with the mafia in Uttar Pradesh.
Kangana opted out of the sequel of Ishqiya to be a part of this film and is said to be excited about it. Rumours are that the film deals with the story of UP politician Mayawati.
Sudhir Mishra
This one is said to be Mishra's most ambitious project till date. The film will see two of the country's biggest stars Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor coming together after a long gap.
While there has been a long debate on who will finally play the titular role of Mehrunissa, sources suggest it could be Chitrangada Singh.
Vikas Bahl
Bahl returns to direction after Chillar Party with this one. It will be Kangna again who will be seen in this women-centric film.
Kangs has even gone completely de-glam for the film that deals with the story of a small town girl chasing her dreams.
Subhash Ghai
The filmmaker returns to direction after five years with this project. In his true style, Ghai will be introducing yet another new face in Bollywood.
The film will star Kolkata-based starlet Mishti and is based on the story of a small town girl who beats the odds. u00a0
