Looks like the clash between Anurag Kashyap and Kabir Sadanand over the titles of their respective films just heated up further after the producer-director's recent trip to the Cannes Film Festival.
Sadanand is irked that despite being locked in a battle over the alleged hijacking of his film title by Kashyap, the latter still took his film Ugly to the French Riviera. The director had initially already filed two complaints with the Indian Motion Picture and Producers Association and is now apparently exploring legal options.
Murky matters
A source says, "Sadanand is making Fugly with boxer Vijender Singh and had registered his title with IMPPA. He had expressed his displeasure over Anurag going ahead with his title Ugly despite being categorically told not to do so by the association. He is upset that Anurag still screened his film at Cannes."
On his part, Sadanand hopes that IMPPA takes a decision soon on the title's rightful owner.
Reacting to a recent interview by Anurag, where he had questioned the fuss about the battle over titles, Sadanand says, "I am sure Anurag is more mature. I have done enough work on television and the big screen for people to know who I am."
So, what's next? Says the director, "I have already filed two complaints with IMPPA and I trust the association to decide soon."
Anurag remained unavailable for comment. u00a0
