Kangana Ranaut
The makers of Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika - Queen Of Jhansi released a poster of the film but preferred to be mum about the release date. The historical is slated to hit screens on January 25, 2019, clashing with Hrithik Roshan's Super 30 and Emraan Hashmi's Cheat India. There's talk now that Manikarnika will be shifted to a later date. Kangy's other film, Mental Hai Kya, releases on February 22, so she wants a gap between the two releases. The realisation has dawned rather late.
The makers released the poster of Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi today to honour the warrior queen who was part of India's freedom struggle. Talking to mid-day about her muse in the Krish-directed biopic, Ranaut points out that despite generations separating them, Rani Laxmibai's story remains relevant to women of today.
"The Queen of Jhansi is a symbol of strength and courage. Even today if we want to refer to someone as fierce, we say she is like Jhansi ki Rani. I believe her story is a blockbuster with or without any cinematic interpretation. A woman like her doesn't need any validation, and will be remembered for years to come."
Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is an epic biographical film based on the life of Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi. It is being directed by Krish and produced by Zee Studios in association with Kamal Jain & Nishant Pitti. Kangana plays the titular role in the film, which also stars Sonu Sood and Ankita Lokhande in pivotal roles.
