Small things happen at big fashion events
Small things happen at big fashion events. The Mai Mumbai show at the Lakme Fashion Week took off, fashionably an hour late, to bumper-to-bumper traffic of the human kind, amidst some minor hiccups.
A fair gentleman took a fall, tearing his suit, just before the show started. Supermodel Naomi Campbell started the show to a healthy applause, looking as beautiful and confident as ever.
Then the Bollywood brigade came on the ramp. Among them Kunal Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar, both unrecognised by Sangita Kathiwada, who asked Tina Tahiliani who they were. And as the 40-minute show rolled to an end, the celebs came back on the ramp wearing Mai Mumbai T-shirts put together by Indian designers. Kunal tried to whistle as those in the front row cheered for him. The whistle didn't come out, but spit did. Right on a fashion journo seated in the front row. Eew! The show wasn't a damp squib though.
