In his maiden exhibition Carscapes, artist Pratik Sharma has blended consumerism and creativity in a unique manner
Paintings from the Carscapes exhibition
A student of the Raffles Design Institute, Singapore, Pratik comes from a family of traditional Rajasthani painters.
The art works are characterised by clean shapes, sharp edgesand contagious energy in the form of bright colours.
The blackand white machines are made against a symbolic backdrop. Reassembled hot rods, Rolls-Royces, Audis, Porsches, each vie for space on his canvas.
Pratik's works are inspired by his fascination for cars. The paintings capture myriad moods in a striking manner that's rare with inanimate objects.
The young artist's work has also been lauded by art critic Suneet Chopra in the Indian Contemporary ArtJournal who has appreciated the works sayind, "Pratik's worksreflect an age of brand-making, slick presentation and concern with design.
It's the voice of the time where the artist treads the narrow line between consumerism and creativity." The exhibition is on from Jan 10-27 at Reflections, JW Marriott, Juhu Tara Road from 11am to 11pm.
