Q. After your design label, how did the idea of the store come about?
A. Everyone is aware of my tryst with saris. I understand this silhouette. Earlier, my store stocked just saris, which I believe, are the most versatile garments ever. They can be formal, conservative, fun and sexy! But many customers wanted bridal wear, anarkalis, tunics that I didn't do then. So I thought, âWhy not share what I would wear, apart from saris?' Besides, I was keen to design for different ages. Not many young people wear saris these days.

Q. What can we expect at the store?
A. The store will house brands like Gavin Miguel, Charu Parasher, Harsh Harsh, Kiran Ajmera, Terrence Lobo, Palanquine, Ezraamidst among others. It will also stock collections that are an extension of my style. I have personally selected brands and the assortments to be showcased. The ethos of the label is simple; every item of clothing or accessories that hold place at M The store is something I would wear myself. This label is an extension of my personality.
Q. How do you juggle with such ease? What makes you happiest?
A. When I first launched my label, I was in the middle of doing two big shows - 24 and Indian Idol Junior. It is tough to juggle all of it, but I enjoy it. I love things that are live - like theatre and hosting corporate events. I love instant feedback.
Q. What's your design mantra?
A. I enjoy the fashion and design space because it's another outlet to be creative and express myself. I put colours together well, even if I may not be great at other aspects of designing. People pick an outfit based on colour combinations. There was a time when I liked olives and greys but that time has passed. I like vibrant colours like fuschia, orange and turquoise.
