She's always dressed impeccably and she looks stunning in everything that she wears. So, we weren't really surprised to know that TV anchor Mandira Bedi is a shopaholic. She takes us along on a shopping spree:
Buy buy
I am a serious shopper. I shop whenever and wherever there are things to be bought. I once went to Kunoor and bought tea and shawls; I went to Jodhpur and bought furniture and jewellery. On my travels out of the country, I have to make sure that I carry an extra bag inside my suitcase so that I have enough space to bring back things. Whenever I have a day off, I end up shopping. They say retail therapy is good for the woman's soul, believe me, they are right!
Dil mange more
I love clothes, watches, bags and jewellery and cannot get enough of them. According to me there are two kinds of shopping -- one where you head out and end up buying things you don't really need, and the other is the kind where you go on a mission. I like the first one because whatever I end up buying is unexpected and a bonus. The mission based shopping tends to disappoint, especially when you don't find what you're looking for.
Shopping haunts
I have many favourite shopping destinations. In India, I love shopping in Delhi for Indian clothes and sarees. I enjoy shopping in Rajasthan for jewellery. I have been shopping for silver jewellery since I was 13 years old at a store called Silver House in Mumbai. Internationally, I enjoy shopping in New York and London. I have always travelled to those two destinations on airlines that give me plenty of allowances for excess baggage! Since I'm an impulsive shopper, I also love shopping duty free at airports.
Smart buys
Last year I went to New York for work and didn't have too many free days of shopping. The one day I had, I went with my best friend from college. He and I packed an entire trunk of his car with six pairs of shoes, two pairs of UGG boots, work-out gear, Burberry tees for my husband and dad, cufflinks for my brother, wine glasses and a carafe for my bar. It was unforgettable because I managed to shop for everybody just in a few hours. But I'm sure I can better that score someday!
