India's boxing hero Vijender Singh is all set to tie the knot today with a Delhi-based software engineer, Archana Singh.

Vijender Singh was born into a lower middle class family to Mahipal Beniwal, a driver with Haryana Roadways while his mother is a home maker.u00a0
As young men, Vijender and his elder brother Manoj were inspired by Raj Kumar Sangwan who was the first boxer to get an Arjuna Award.u00a0
Vijender's talent was recognized by coach and former national level boxer Jagdish Singh at Bhiwani boxing club. He also some modelling to support his training.u00a0u00a0
In 2003, he was crowned all India youth boxing champion. At the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, he won the bronze medal after defeating Kazakhstan's Bakhtiyar Artayev. At the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, he became the first Indian boxer to win a Olympic medal.u00a0
After this historic win, Vijender was given a number of awards, including the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, India's highest sporting honour.
