Composer Mithoon not under any pressure as he is set to make songs for the sequel to 2006 hit 'Aksar'

Composer Mithoon, who is working on the soundtrack of the 2006 musical hit, Aksar's sequel, says he isn't feeling any pressure. "This is not the first time I'm making music for a sequel to a big franchise.

I have done 'Aashiqui 2' (2013), so I am able to handle the responsibility. I create music organically. I loved the music of 'Aksar'. Himesh (Reshammiya; composer) did a good job. 'Lagi Lagi' and 'Soniye' were my favourite tracks," he says.

When Mithoon works on a sequel score, the album almost always appears different from the original soundtracks. "My sensibilities are spontaneous. Even while working on other franchises like Jism 2 (2012) or Murder 2 (2011), I didn't carry the baggage of the previous offering. I approach a project like a new one and put in my best," says Mithoon, who is not planning to recreate any song from Aksar. "I don't believe in recreating old songs. Our country has enough talent to produce original content."

The music of Aksar 2, he says, is in the final stage of production. He is also working on a musical, which he calls his "dream project". Among the current crop of singers, he enjoys working with Arijit Singh most. "Arijit is a versatile singer and a good combination of technique and expression. This makes working with him a smooth experience. He also gives a composer the scope to experiment with a song."
