Most of us would have been in situations where our phone dies right at the moment when you needed these the most.

Sometimes, it's the phone's battery that doesn't give enough back-up, otherwise, the battery might have dried up because you spent too much time playing games or Facebook-ing. Worse, if you are travelling, the woes multiply. Not anymore. Lumos, a Bangalore-based start-up has launched a new backpack that gets charged from solar energy.

It has a curved top panel made of solar fibre, which converts solar energy into electricity, and stores it in a small powerpack fitted on the top panel. So, while you're walking on the road, the backpack is actually storing electricity for later use. An hour of solar charge gives you enough juice to call your uncle, buddy, and even the milkman. You can also keep it charged in advance, using a USB cable. Multiple connectors ensure that it supports multiple devices.

Though a bit on the heavy side, weighing 1.2 kg, the backpack is really strong, and can pack several gadgets including a 15.6-inch laptop, a tablet and loads of stuff in small zips and pouches.
