The face of Kunal Ganjawala's Channa Ve and the National Award winning film Frozen, Gauri Kulkarni is strict when it comes to haircare. Here's the regime that the actress follows to keep her tresses shining:

Amla magic
My hair is straight, but wavy at the ends. It is also on the drier side. During shoots, my hair tends to get dry and tangled because of the various hairstyles it gets subjected to. So to counter the dryness, I have amla juice every morning on an empty stomach. Amla is good for skin and hair and if I can't extract the juice, I eat the fruit whole. It's tangy, but yummy!

Oil fundas
I oil my hair once a week. I mix almond oil and coconut oil together and sometimes I add E cod tablets (cod liver oil) to it. I wash my hair at least thrice a week and make sure that it is conditioned properly. I go for spa and protein treatments once in two months for temporary shine.

Nature's care
Natural remedies are the best, but they require time. When I was a kid, I used to wash my hair with shikakai and ritha boiled in water, but these days I don't get so much time. So I think it's okay to indulge in hair treatments once in a while.

Chemical combination
I have coloured my hair two-three times, but I do it once a year. I did it for a role in a film and also because I personally liked it. I wouldn't spoil my hair for a fad! I know that chemical treatments harm hair, but I make sure I use the appropriate shampoo for my coloured hair.

Block off
When I travel, I make sure I tie a scarf around my head to protect my hair from the wind and sun. I also comb it properly as natural oils coming from the scalp are essential too. Oil massages or hair spa are great de-stressers and so I go for them regularly.

My tip
Hair is as important as skin, so make sure you take proper care of it. Comb regularly, wash and condition it at least twice a week. Trim your hair every two-three months to avoid split ends and have a balanced diet.
