The smile is back on the faces of theatre owners. After back-to-back damp squibs, Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu-starrer 'Pink' has been attracting big footfalls, if not exactly setting the box office coffers ringing.

Trade expert Taran Adarsh says, "After a slow start, the collections for Pink have picked up at multiplexes, especially in major centres. The strong word-of-mouth buzz helped escalate its business manifold on Saturday and Sunday. A 20-crore opening weekend is quite likely. Given the content, it will continue to attract footfalls during weekdays too."

The film, reportedly made on a budget of Rs 35-crore, also stars Kirti Kulhari and newcomer Andrea Tariang. At the box office, it is competing against Emraan Hashmi-starrer 'Raaz Reboot', the fourth part in the horror franchise.

Trade-smith Amod Mehra says, "'Pink' is a niche film and it has won over the gentry. Youngsters, too, are making a beeline for it. The opening collections wasn't up to the mark, but the word-of-mouth has been encouraging. Commercially, it should make it to the safe zone with total earnings in the range of Rs 35-40 crore."

Will this film finally get Bachchan into the Rs 100-crore league? "Rs 100 crore is no barometer to measure a film's success. As long as it covers its cost or makes profit and leaves an impact on the audience, all's good," adds Adarsh.
