Shilpa's boys get ready for a different match-up... on the big screen with the RR co-owner
Rajasthan Royals, winners of the Indian Premier League's (IPL) first edition, are not only a hit with the cricket-loving public of South Africa. Thanks to their cricketing flair and good-looking team members, they have attracted the attention of Bollywood too.u00a0
Producer Bobby Bedi has approached a few Rajasthan Royals players, including Shane Warne, for a movie along with the team owner, Shilpa Shetty.
Venue change made 'em wait
Says Shilpa, "It's a film with some of the RR players. This was discussed before I became co-owner. The project is under review because of the shift in venue to South Africa. They would have shot some bits during the camp if the IPL had happened in India."
A source reveals, Bedi was always very keen to do a movie with Shilpa, but couldn't find the right script. The producer has finally come across the script that not only suits the actress, but also the Rajasthan Royals' captain-cum-coach Warne. Bobby met Shilpa during her visit to Jaipur after this year's Rajasthan Royals team was finalised. They also had a dinner meeting to discuss it."
According to the source, Bedi is also looking forward to having other international players in the Rajasthan squad such as South Africa's dynamic captain Graeme Smith, Dimitri Mascarenhas and Morne Morkel as part of the cast. Among the Indian players, the filmmaker is keen to have Yusuf Pathan and Mohammad Kaif.
It is learnt that the script has cricket as the backdrop but not as its main subject. Shilpa has heard agist of the script and will work on it after the IPL matches.
Bedi was also present at Shilpa and beau Raj Kundra's party along with their players at Hotel Jai Mahal Palace in Jaipur.
Shane: The nick's Hollywood
One of Shane Warne's nicknames apart from Warney and Suicide Blonde (coined by Warne's former teammate Greg Matthews after INXS's big hit Suicide Blonde) is Hollywood for his exciting lifestyle and good looks. Now, he is set for Bollywood though!
Bobby kaun?
Producer Bobby Bedi's earlier films include Bandit Queen, based on the life of Phoolan Devi, which won critical acclaim at the Cannes Festival in 1994. His other project includes The Rising: Ballad of Mangal Pandey, an epic on the rebellion of native soldiers serving under British rule in the late 19th Century. Bedi is also a strong advocate for the recognition and enforcement of intellectual property rights.
