However, if rumours are to be believed, Rajkumar Santoshi, who had wielded the megaphone for Sunny's National Award winning Ghayal, is once again in the running for the director's chair.
The sequel of Ghayal had been announced quite a while ago. The teaser of the film was even aired during the screening of Salman Khan's Ready. Ever since then, the film has faced multiple roadblocks, with the names of several directors being tossed up time and again.
A source says, "Initially Tigmanshu Dhulia was roped in, but was later replaced by Ashwini Chaudhary. Post that Sunny's old friend Rahul Rawail came into the picture. The sailing was smooth after that but looks like the picture has changed once more."
And it's not just the director's seat that appears to be jinxed, even veteran writer Piyush Mishra, who had been working on the screenplay and dialogue, opted out of the project. All the uncertainty around the film led to rumours that the film had been allegedly put on the backburner.
However, a source close to the project refutes the rumours and states, "The film is not on the backburner. Santoshi is being called back to helm the project. Raj ji is very kicked about the project."
A spokesperson from Sunny's office states, "Yes, we are in talks with Santoshi but it is too early to confirm his presence."u00a0
