Vishal Bhardwaj has admitted that Saat Khoon Maaf is loosely based on Ruskin Bond's Susanna's Seven Husbands. However, there's another inspiration we've come across.



The Priyanka Chopra starrer shows an uncanny resemblance to Italian film maestro Vittorio De Sica's Sette Volte Donna (1967) in terms of structure.

The De Seca film has seven mini-stories of adultery shot episodically and stars Shirley MacLaine in all the seven stories.



Not just that, a recent SKM promo where a mourning PC walks with a funeral procession) is strikingly similar to a similar sequence in the 1967 flick.

It could simply be a coincidence. Filmmakers do tend to think alike, after all. Despite repeated attempts to contact him, Vishal Bhardwaj remained unavailable.
