Saif Ali Khan
It may be a while before we see real-life couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor together on the big screen. But in what could be a reason to cheer for their fans, it has been heard that the two are joining forces to launch a designer ethnic-wear brand. Staying true to Khan's royal lineage, the clothing brand's offerings will be inspired by the heritage of royal gharanas of India.
Initially conceptualised as a men's clothing label that has been tentatively titled The House Of Pataudis, the brand will be expanded into women's wear as well. A source reveals, "Both Kareena and Saif are style icons. Considering they are lending their name to it, they are sure that the products on offer should be fashionable and of top-notch quality. They are seeking advice of their designer friends to understand the workings of the fashion industry."
It was apparently the couple's brainwave to tap into the unexplored territory of designing apparel that has its roots in Indian royalty. "The designs from the royal households of Punjab, Rajasthan and South India are untapped treasures. Saif and Kareena want to bring back fabrics and styles from the royal gharanas. A team of researchers have been put to work. The brand is likely to hit markets only by the second half of next year." When we reached out to Khan, he said, "These are ideas that get exaggerated and become news. All in good time. You will get to know when everything is confirmed."
